If I Won a Million Dollars – Wish List

Thanks to Publishers Clearing House  for sponsoring today’s discussion on what it would be like to win their $1 Million plus $5,000 Every Week For Life Mega Prize.

What would you do if you won a million dollars and then some? I consider myself to be a modest person… I’ve never truly given thought to what I would do with a ton of money if I had it.  I am savvy enough to know that money does not bring happiness and I know that I would do my part in sharing it with those that need it more than myself. That would make me more happy than having material things.

But, what if I allow myself to dream big… just for fun? What would I want just for me? What would really make my life feel more like a dream?  What if I actually were to enter to Win $1 Million PLUS $5,000 A Week For Life and actually win?

I wouldn’t run out and blow all of the money on a giant house. BUT, I would want a nice modern livable home and I would focus on the little details like…

I would love my own personal pretty girly girl bathroom with a gigundis (I may have made that word up) bathtub that nobody else was allowed to use!  Living with men/boys is certain motivation for wanting my own space! I’d even deck it out with “Hers” towels.

Then of course, I just have to have a seriously amazing pool. I’ve always longed to have a swimming pool ever since I was a kid and if I won, it would definitely be a large priority!

What about an outdoor pool with a huge flat screen TV?

Or maybe a pool right in my bedroom? How strange and awesome would that be?

I’d love to be able to be more sustainable and self reliant. I would love an amazing vegetable garden in my own yard! Of course, I would hire help because I am NOT very good at gardening… otherwise I’d probably already have one!

Then, my last guilty pleasure would be a personal chef that prepared all healthy and organic foods from our fabulous garden. Not asking too much right?

I’d love a full gym in my home with a view preferably! Then, of course I’d need someone to get on my butt to push me to actually do the workout!

With all that, I think I would be pretty satisfied! Now, to just get as lucky as Leroy Faulks, SR who was the first Mega Prize winner! Dave and Danielle of the PCH Prize Patrol could surprise you or myself at home with a check for One Million Dollars, you just never know!

I really, really, really want that bathroom in the photo that you posted! I would get a ranch with an amazing house, including that bathroom!

I would definitely have a maid and a chef if I won a million dollars. And a brand new car, plus a vacation trip of a lifetime. Otherwise than that, I’d be happy. :)

  4. JulieK says

maybe I’m a total weirdo but sometimes when I can’t fall asleep at night I daydream (night dream?) about what I’d do with a million cool bucks :) I always laugh at how practical I am with it :) LOL it’s fun to think about … and then again sobering to think about how it doesn’t go far after taxation! LOL

  5. says

Oh my! Can you even imagine having a swimming pool in the bedroom! I may fall in while walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night!!

  6. rebeccabasset says

I would definitely have a Beach House, Love staying in one during the warmer months, or one in the Caribbean would be perfect. I love listing to the waves before I go to sleep.

  7. ANN*H says

I have never been lucky enough to win it either. I would love to have my own chef cook me good healthy meals and a chauffeur to drive me around as I dont drive. Im not hard to please I like your ideas tho. Wishing us all luck. Tho with my luck if I won I would probably pass out.

  8. Matt S. says

I would pay off all debts including the house. Then I would take my whole family of a vacation.

  9. essijay says

well i’d definitely buy myself a home… in a nicer neighborhood… and i’d hire a private tutor/teacher for my kid so i don’t have to send him to any of the local schools (i don’t want to move from my town though, love it here)
and yeah, i’d have a garden and some green-thumb kinda people to help me with it… and i’d buy myself a car (but nothing too fancy, just need something besides the city bus)
i’d buy back the land and home the bank took when my grandmother passed away.
i’d give a lot away, i’m sure… because i know how it feels to be dirt poor and hopeless.

thanks for the chance to be a dreamer for a few mins :-)

  10. Erin S says

I would buy whatever my family was in need of, save a lot of it, and donate some to charities :)

  11. Crystal Rose says

I’d buy a better house, decent cars for my family, pay off my debts, finish my degree sooner, invest some, and donate some.

  12. Richard Hicks says

You have nice list! I would buy a nice home outside of the city and live happily ever after!

  13. Rust says

I would buy a house in a little valley in the mountains, pay off all the bills, and do some traveling.

  14. Cheryl Chervitz says

What a person can do with a million dollars! Very nice, not sure I would want all of it, but it is beautiful.

  15. Lisa Brown says

Hmm…if I won a million I would move, first off, and get my own place, tired of living with relatives.

  16. Barrie says

Keep in mind that half of this money would go towards taxes! WIth the rest, I would give 1/2 to charities. I would invest the rest to take care of my family for life. With the monthly money I would get, I would make sure my mom is out of debt and give her monthly spending money, put my child through college and buy her a house. Hubby and I would purchase the RV we have always wanted and travel!

For me would get a house and a car (really need a car and tired of renting) plus pay off bills!

  18. Terri Shaw says

I would love, Love, LOVE my own huge garden and chickens! I have been trying to go organic for better health.

  19. Susana Zerega-Higuera says

I would pay off all my bills and my husbands, eliminate debt. Then I’d buy a small house, invest some of the money and finish school. I’d make sure my family and I would have good health and life insurance, and put money away for my daughters college fund. I’d open my own business with my husband and help out my parents get out of debt. I would finally take the overdue honeymoon my husband and I have been wanting to take, travel a bit and learn new cultures.

  20. Patricia Mohl says

First pay off our house and all debt.\ then help the kids with their debt and start college funds for all the grand kids.

  21. Brian Smith says

You have great ideas! I’d be debt free….then a Mediterranean cruise, then 1/2 in the bank, then charity (including familial charity, like paying off my niece’s school loans) then count my blessings!

  22. JJ Caraway says

I love your ideas. I would buy a home and would love to have a pool and would give to my church and help my children.

  23. Alicia says

i would totally buy a new house and then make sure I helped out my mom with her house and some savings too! And perhaps even a big trip to all the places I want to see in the world!! there are a handful of people I would offer some help to as well.

  24. Pamela Halligan says

I’d buy a new house and definitely consider an amazing pool. I’d also donate a portion to my favorite charities and help my family out.

  25. Amy Tolley says

i would go after the pool for sure i love to swim….thanks but first i would help out my family and make sure my two boys and daughter have their college payed for….and give to the local food bank here in town..

  26. Virginia Holst says

A million dollars! After tax, I would get an attorney/advisor to avoid problems and then give to my five grown children, 13 grandchildren, and invest in silver. Much of the money would go to Christian missions like CRU and SIM to further the Gospel. It would be an adventure to spend that kind of money.

  27. Emillie says

Honestly I would donate a portion of it to local communities in need. Plus buy myself a gorgeous car, another house (on the beach of course!) and a boat! Not to much to ask is it?!? :)

  28. June S. says

Winning a large amount of money would be great, but you have to save some for a rainy day. I would get a maid service though.

  29. Michaela G. says

Thank you Dawn, for all your wonderful idea’s and YES, YES, YES I totally agree that I would love all your idea’s too, but I think I would SAVE, SAVE, SAVE most of the money so it works for me and it would last a life time for me and my family. I have those moments when I dream BIG, BIG, BIG in winning PCH, just like you did but then I come down to earth and think that I always want to feel financially secure. So, living off the interest would be the best plan for me and saving for the rest for bigger and better things, like investing in some properties. I do not think I would quit my job either, I love it! If we could, I would have my husband retire early. I would do those things just like everyone else, help your family, charities, church, school, community, but with all in good time and do not forget about the taxes. Well, I could go on and on but I am sure you got the picture. I have been doing this a very long time now, so I just wanted to wish every one good luck and it is so very exciting to see who wins and what happens next for them. Plus, no one ever wins in my state, so I would be very surprised if I won from PCH, but I love dreaming big so I enter everyday!!!

I do hope you are having a wonderful, fun and safe summer!!!!

  30. Nettie Jenkins says

I know why I enter everyday and I know all the good that can come from such an impact that this can do for myself ,loved ones, friends, and my community where I live and work,As well as random acts of kindness that I could perform on behalf of PCH if this be granted to me. What a great legacy! (Smiles)
