Easy DIY Gumdrop Pumpkins

While I was hanging out at Walmart a couple weeks ago looking for some Halloween inspiration, I stumbled on "Orange Slice" candy and thought they looked just like pumpkins. While I was still in the candy aisle, I looked for something that would make a good "stem" and spotted a bag of small gumdrops. The green would be absolutely perfect. My original thoughts were to put these cute Halloween embellishments on a stick. I figured I'd pick up the gummies and figure that out later. Maybe I'd use white chocolate or something.

Well the whole chocolate thing didn't help. I just could not get those to stay put on the stick. So as I was searching the internet for ideas on how to get them to stick, I actually stumbled on the exact idea that I'd had. So much for being original, ha! Now I can't find where I saw them... it was either from the Parent or Better Homes & Gardens Magazine. Anyway, the absolute genius here is that instead of using something to make the parts adhere to each other.. they simply slice the bottoms of the green gumdrops as well as one side of the orange gumdrops and voila. Like magic, these little candy pieces stick together. Yay for EASY! Right? Much better! Oh and by the way, they still don't work out on the lollipop stick. Bummer, cuz that would be so cute!

These are so cute just as is or as a topper like on a cupcake! Would be the perfect easy way to spruce up a Halloween party!

What You'll Need:

Orange Slice Candy
Small Green Gumdrops

Simply slice a thin layer off of the inner side of two Orange Slice candy pieces for each pumpkin desired and press sliced sides together to form a pumpkin shape. Trim a thin layer off of the bottom of one small green gumdrop. Press into the center of each "Orange Slice" pumpkin.

So easy!

Yes, they could go on several things or heck, eat them before they even made it elsewhere. :)
