The holiday season can be tough to manage financially. Like me, you might have lots of gifts to purchase, parties to host or meals to prepare for your family. It can really be challenging at times, but even burdensome. I want to share some tips on finding that extra cash in your budget with some of the tools and tricks that I rely on. Hopefully we can both maneuver some extra cash this year, let’s see what we can do! Do you have potential cash just sitting around your home? Then, I’ll share a sweet option from H&R Block that you are going to love!
Tips for Finding Extra Cash in Your Budget for the Holidays
✴ See if you can free up cash by reviewing your bills and your pay stub. Will getting rid of those extra channels on your cable save you for the holidays? Are you opting in for something you no longer need at work? Take inventory, you might just find a little extra cash available.
✴ Plan, plan, plan. Have a plan in place in advance, don’t just wing it. With your head on your shoulders and with plenty of time to get ahead of the game, plan out your budget now. Figure out what you need now, you can save money more money by avoiding impulse purchases and last minute items.
✴ Still have unopened gifts from last year? It’s time to unload. Try selling them or heck re-gift them if needed.
✴ Buy less. Take inventory of what you have in your cupboards before heading off to the grocery store. With a little creativity and a Google search you can probably make some meals using what you already have on hand. Every penny counts.
✴ Got Gift Cards? Twice a year I go through all of the gift cards that have been sitting in my wallet to check my balances. Make sure to spend every last penny on the things you need this season. If I have gift cards that I haven’t used and probably won’t use, I sell them. You could also gift them too!
✴ Shop Smarter. Get more bang for your buck, make sure to take advantage of money saving offers like coupons and deals or cash back offers and rebates. Buy in bulk if that will shave money off of your overall budget. There are many retailers looking to get your attention, give it to them if the deal is right. Be sure to sign up for any freebies online and in-store and of course you should also enter giveaways to win when you have some spare time.
These are some great ways to tap into your resources. I’d also like to invite you to check out another great option called Emerald Advance Line of Credit from H&R Block. They realize that sometimes a bit of extra money can be the difference. I like this interesting option to essentially borrow and repay up to $1000 which makes it different than say a credit card. This option feels more like just help when you need it… yet assisting you in keeping your budget in check since there is a limit. Among ways to pay down any debt owed, you have the ability to pay off your Emerald Advance with a portion of your tax refund. This makes for ultimate convenience.
